DV4Mini

So I am now on DMR via the DV4 mini.

What comes in the packet:
– 1 x DV4mini USB stick

What doesn’t come in the packet:
– An Antenna
– The Software.

Technical Data:
Frequency range: 420-450 MHz
Resolution: ca 250 Hz
RX/TX D-Star: Duplex +/0/- any shift
RX/TX DMR: Simplex (TX=RX QRG)
Modulation D-Star: GMSK (Gaussian 2FSK)
Modulation DMRPLUS: 4FSK Raised Cosine
Antenna connector: SMA female 50 Ohm
USB interface: USB type A
Operating Voltage: 4.75 – 5.25 V
Current max RX 15 mA
TX (with 12 mW) 188 mA
S-Meter 1dBm resolution
accuracy +- 1dBm (> -100 dBm
and < -50dBm) DV4mini output power steps: 10 steps: 0 = 0.03 mW, 1 = 0.4 mW, 2 = 1.2 mW, 3 = 2.4 mW, 4 = 3.9 mW, 5 = 5.5 mW, 6 = 7.1 mW, 7 = 8.8 mW, 8 = 10.5 mW, 9 = 12 mW Frequency range: 420-450 MHz Resolution: ca 250 Hz RX/TX D-Star: Duplex +/0/- any shift RX/TX DMR: Simplex (TX=RX QRG) Modulation D-Star: GMSK (Gaussian 2FSK) Modulation DMRPLUS: 4FSK Raised Cosine Antenna connector: SMA female 50 Ohm USB interface: USB type A Operating Voltage: 4.75 - 5.25 V Current max RX 15 mA

and < -50dBm)
So for the antenna I am using a Nagoya NA-701 which is a dual band antenna with a quoted Gain of 2.15 dB and the antenna length is 216mm the antenna also comes with a washer for the rig if the antenna doesn’t fit snug.

Software comes from http://dv4m.ham-dmr.ch/ I tried V1.6 and although it was stable I then went onto the latest development version, which I am having less problems with.

Installation is quite simple first off insert the dongle and run the software, you will then need your DMR/CCS7 id you will need to register at
http://register.ham-digital.net/ this requires a copy of your licence emailing to them, and your email and callsign. On receipt of your ID.

as you can see from above, you need to input your DMR/CCS7 ID
your hotspot callsign and a letter (I am using D for Digitial) then my location and QTH Locator (Maidenhead grid reference) from there all I did was click DMR+ I’ve now got the power turned down to about 6mW and setup a RX-QRG and TX-QRG on the Expert settings I’ve changed the DMR – QRG to -300 and the Nearest DMR master to BR:MASTER-2341-GB back on the main DVcontrol tab you will notice I’ve connected to 4400 (UK general channel)

As far as setup goes that is it. I’ve initially set this up on a WIN10 PC but it will be moving to a Raspberry PI 3 using 4g and the unit will be installed in the Car.
